The electric field of a uniform plane electromagnetic wave in free space, along the positive x direction, is given by \overrightarrow E=10\left({\widehat a}_y+j{\widehat a}_z\right)e^{-j25x}. The frequency and polarization of the wave, respectively, are

(a) 1.2 GHz and left circular

(b) 4 Hz and left circular

(c) 1.2 GHz and right circular

(d) 4 GHz and right circular

Explanation

Comparing the given equation with standard form we have, β = 25.

v=\frac\omega\beta\Rightarrow f=\frac{v\beta}{2\pi}

Solving the above equation by taking v = c we can get the frequency.

From the given equation, it can also be observed that both the components have same magnitude and have phase difference of 90o. So it is circularly polarized.
