RRB is acronym for Railway Recruitment Board. RRB conducts an exam for the Recruitment of Junior Engineer.
Although, the notification for the RRB -JE 2023 is not yet published. But in coming months, the advertisement for recruitment will be soon onboard.

Overview of RRB-JE Exam
RRB conducts an exam for the recruitment of Junior Engineer in various discipline. It is a group C post. It is Non-Gazetted post . There are 21 recruitment boards of railway who comes together and conduct the exam.
The main objective of RRB JE Recruitment is to find out candidates with outstanding acumen and incredible fitness. RRB JE examination is a golden opportunity for those candidates who want to be government engineers in the Indian Railways.
Age criteria
The minimum age criteria for the exam is 18 years and the maximum age will be 33 years.
SC candidates will get an age relaxation of 5 years and OBC candidates will get an age relaxation of 3 years. There are also some criteria for the persons with benchmark disability .
Educational Qualification
Eligible candidates must have essential Educational/Technical qualifications mentioned for posts of Junior Engineer (JE), Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant (CMA), Junior Engineer (Information Technology Branch), and Depot Material Superintendent (DMS), from a recognized Board/University/ for RRB JE 2023 Recruitment Registration Process. A Candidate must have:
● Three Years Diploma in Relevant Engineering Stream.
● BE/B. Tech in Relevant Engineering Stream.
● Final Year students of Degree/Diploma are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for the RRB JE 2023 Recruitment Examination
Nationality for RRB
A candidate must be either:
a. a citizen of India, or
b. a subject of Nepal, or
c. a subject of Bhutan, or
d. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
e. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
f. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e)above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
(ii) A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.
No. of Attempts
There is no limit for attempts. You can give number of attempts till the maximum age limit from 18 to 33 years.
Examination Fee
For all candidates except the fee Concession categories mentioned below at Out of this fee of Rs 500/-
an amount of Rs 400/- shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges, on appearing in 1st Stage CBT.
For candidates belonging to SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / PwBDs / Female / Transgender / Minorities / Economically backward class.
This fee of Rs 250/– shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges as applicable, on appearing in 1st Stage CBT
Selection Procedure
The selection process is carried out in three steps:-
i) C.B.T Test-1 ( Computer Based Test -1)
ii) C.B.T Test-2 ( Computer Based Test -2)
iii) Document Verification and Medical Test
Only single online application {common to all the notified posts in opted RRB – Junior Engineer (JE), Junior Engineer (Information Technology) [JE(IT)], Depot Material Superintendant (DMS) and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant
(CMA)} has to be submitted by the candidate through the link provided on the official website of RRBs.
The entire recruitment process shall involve, 1st stage Computer Based Test (CBT), 2nd stage CBT, and Document Verification/ Medical Examination as applicable. Selection is made strictly as per merit, on the basis of CBTs.
The date, time and venue for all the activities viz CBTs and DV or any other additional activity as applicable shall be fixed by the RRB and shall be intimated to the eligible candidates in due course. Request for postponement of any of the above activity or for change of venue, date and shift will not be entertained under any circumstances.
Salary and Allowances
The candidates selected for the post of RRB Junior Engineer will receive a decent salary. As per the 7th Pay Commission, the RRB JE salary will of Level-6.
The salary structure includes a basic salary along with all the perks and allowances offered and deductions made in the salary.
The detailed salary structure for RRB JE during training and after completion of the training period is mentioned below.
During training period

Exam Pattern
1st Stage CBT (Common for all notified posts of this CEN):
Duration : 90 minutes (120 Minutes for eligible PwBD candidates
accompanied with Scribe)
No of Questions : 100
The 1st stage CBT is of screening nature and the standard of questions for the CBT will be generally in conformity with the educational standards and/or minimum technical qualifications prescribed for the posts. The normalized score of 1st stage exam shall be used only for short listing of candidates for 2nd stage exam as per their merit.
Candidates who are shortlisted for 2nd stage CBT availing the reservation benefits of a community, PwBD and ExSM shall continue to be considered only against that community for all subsequent stages of recruitment process.
The Questions will be of objective type with multiple choices and are likely to include questions pertaining to:
a. Mathematics :
Number systems, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM and HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and
Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Elementary
Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern.
b. General Intelligence and Reasoning :
Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.
c. General Awareness :
Knowledge of Current affairs, Indian geography, culture and history of India including freedom struggle, Indian Polity and constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General scientific and
technological developments etc.
d. General Science :
Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences (up to 10th Standard CBSE syllabus).
2nd Stage CBT
a) General Awareness :
Knowledge of Current affairs, Indian geography, culture and history of India including freedom struggle, Indian Polity and constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General scientific and technological developments etc.
b) Physics and Chemistry: Up to 10th standard CBSE syllabus.
c) Basics of Computers and Applications:
Architecture of Computers; input and Output devices; Storage devices, Networking, Operating System like Windows, Unix,
Linux; MS Office; Various data representation; Internet and Email; Websites & Web Browsers; Computer Virus.
d) Basics of Environment and Pollution Control:
Basics of Environment; Adverse effect of environmental pollution and control strategies; Air, water and Noise pollution, their
effect and control; Waste Management, Global warming; Acid rain; Ozone depletion.

RRB JE Cut -off
RRB releases the minimum qualifying marks and cut-off after the completion of CBT-I. The expected minimum qualifying marks are 40% for general, 30% for OBC and SC, and 25% for ST category candidates. Qualifying marks are calculated out of 100 and 150 for CBT-I and CBT-II respectively. Have a look at the cutoff marks for the last exam held in 2019.
